Meet an Apologist: Dr. William Lane Craig
Bio
Dr. William Lane Craig is the founder and creative voice behind ReasonableFaith.org — one of the web’s most influential Christian apologetics websites. The mission of which is “to provide in the public arena an intelligent, articulate, and uncompromising yet gracious Christian perspective on the most important issues concerning the truth of the Christian faith today”.[1] This mission can be subdivided into 3 distinct parts:
- Provide an articulate, intelligent voice for biblical Christianity in the public arena
- Challenge unbelievers with the truth of biblical Christianity
- Train Christians to state and defend Christian truth claims with greater effectiveness
Born on August 23, 1949, in Peoria, Illinois to parents Mallory and Doris Craig, Dr. William Lane Craig became a Christian as a junior in high school. Upon graduation, he attended Wheaton College before pursuing postgraduate work at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, University of Birmingham (England), as well as the University of Munich (Germany).[2]
Dr. Craig has authored or edited over 30 books on Christian apologetics. Some of his works include The Kalam Cosmological Argument, Assessing the New Testament Evidence for the Historicity of the Resurrection of Jesus, Divine Foreknowledge of Human Freedom, Theism, Atheism, and Big Bang Cosmology, as well as God, Time, and Eternity. Dr. Craig has debated several notable atheists including Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. He has published over 100 articles in professional journals such as The Journal of Philosophy, New Testament Studies, American Philosophical Quarterly. He was named by The Best Schools as one of the 50 Most Influential Living Philosophers.
